WhatsApp link generator (wa.me) with QR code

Enter a phone number in any common format and, if you like, a message to prefill. The generator builds the wa.me click-to-chat link (international number, digits only), URL-encodes the message, and draws a QR code you can download as SVG or PNG. It only builds the link: it does not check whether the number is on WhatsApp.

Free · no sign-up · runs in your browser, nothing is uploaded

For numbers without + or 00.

Any format; leave empty for a share link.

Your wa.me link appears here as you type.

This builds a link; it does not check whether the number is on WhatsApp. If it is not, WhatsApp says so when the link is opened.

QR code

The QR code appears here once the link is ready.

Runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type, paste or upload is sent to MobileValidate or anyone else, and nothing is stored. The page counts one anonymous "tool used" event per visit (no numbers, no text), and sends nothing at all when your browser asks not to be tracked.

Is the number on WhatsApp?

A link opens a chat; it does not tell you whether the number is registered. Check before you send, one number or a whole list, and pay only for conclusive answers.

How it works

A click-to-chat link has the form https://wa.me/<number>?text=<message>. The number is the full international number in digits only: no +, no 00, no spaces, brackets or dashes, and no national trunk 0. The generator converts what you type with libphonenumber, so 020 7946 0958 with United Kingdom becomes wa.me/442079460958.

Country rules that trip people up: in Argentina, mobile numbers take a 9 after the country code and drop the local 15, so 011 15 2345-6789 becomes 5491123456789. In Mexico the extra 1 after +52 was dropped from dialling in 2019 and numbering libraries use 52 plus the 10-digit number, although WhatsApp's own help page still mentions the 1; for Mexican numbers the generator also shows the 521 form to try if the first link fails. In Italy, fixed-line numbers keep their leading 0 after +39.

The message is URL-encoded (spaces become %20, line breaks %0A, emoji and accents as UTF-8), so it arrives exactly as typed. Leave the number empty to get a link that opens WhatsApp's chat picker with the message ready to send to anyone.

The QR code is drawn in your browser. Print it on a flyer, a receipt or a shop window; scanning it opens the chat. Nothing is sent anywhere.

Frequently asked questions

How do I create a WhatsApp link with a message?

Use https://wa.me/ followed by the international number in digits only, then ?text= and the URL-encoded message, for example https://wa.me/442079460958?text=Hello%20there. The generator does the formatting and encoding for you.

Does the link check whether the number is on WhatsApp?

No. The link is built from the number you type; nothing is checked. If the number is not registered, WhatsApp shows a message saying so when someone opens the link. To check registration before you send, use the WhatsApp number check.

Why doesn't my wa.me link work?

Usually the number format: a + or 00 left in, spaces or dashes, a trunk 0 after the country code, or a missing 9 for Argentine mobiles. For Mexican numbers, try both the 52 form and the older 521 form (the generator shows both). Paste the number here and use the generated link.

Can I make a link without a phone number?

Yes. Leave the number empty and enter a message: https://wa.me/?text=… opens WhatsApp, lets the person pick a chat and prefills the message. Useful for "share this" buttons.

Is the QR code free to use commercially?

Yes. The QR code is generated in your browser from your link, without a watermark or a redirect through our servers, so it keeps working even if you never visit this site again.

Is MobileValidate affiliated with WhatsApp?

No. MobileValidate is an independent service and is not affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by WhatsApp or Meta. WhatsApp is a trademark of its owner and is named here only to describe the link format.
